Lock editor when time expires
The editor becomes read-only at zero. Exporting stays available either way — a student is never locked in with text they can't get out.
Turning off spellcheck/autocorrect suppresses the browser's own checking and most extensions — it can't guarantee a device has no other assistance installed.
